Does SUPP back Foo’s attack on Adenan?
KUCHING: The incumbent for the Sarawak state seat of Pending, DAP’s Violet Yong, today told her rival, Milton Foo of Sarawak United People’s Party (SUPP), to state whether he would be seeking election as a Barisan Nasional candidate or an independent.
Commenting on Foo’s recent criticism of Sarawak Chief Minister Adenan Satem, Yong said: “Is he willing to accept his candidacy under the Barisan symbol or is he willing to reject his candidacy after attacking Adenan? He has to make this clear to the public.”
Foo’s outburst against Adenan came in Facebook postings in Mandarin and English over the weekend. He accused the Chief Minister, who is Sarawak BN Chairman, of choosing the coalition’s candidates without consulting with its member parties. He said this was a violation of an agreement among the coalition’s members.
Speaking at a press conference here, Yong also urged SUPP to state whether it endorsed Foo’s statement.
She asked: “Is the party behind him? Does he speak for all of them or just himself? If he cannot make it clear, then I must say that he is just full of hot air and he is trying to make himself famous by screwing Adenan.
“So we call on him to explain his stand within 24 hours because we don’t have much time before the election.”
