SIBU: Direct BN candidate for Pelawan, Kapitan Datuk Janet Lau, has been busy moving from one end of the constituency to the next to give the electorate her attention as the state election nears.

Pelawan is one of the biggest constituencies in Sarawak. With 31,338 voters, the constituency has been enjoying vibrant economic and social growths the past few decades.

This constituency is regarded as the ‘Gateway to SCORE (Sarawak Corridor of Renewable Energy)’ as it has the only road-link to SCORE, meaning to go to SCORE, one has to pass through Pelawan.

Lau and her team have been visiting the industrial zone in Ding Lik Kwong Road as factories and manufacturing plants continue to sprout. During her visit there last Saturday, manufacturers and investors shared their aspirations with her, hoping the government would continue building and improving infrastructure facilities to support the small and medium industries that are growing fast.

The investors said with proper support from the government, they could be the service provider and manufacturers to back up SCORE.

Lau takes great interest in working with them to boost the social and economic developments of Pelawan.

She noted that residents had started moving in as the backyard of Pelawan opens further.

She assured she would ensure infrastructure upgrading would continue to support the manufacturers there.

Lau also gave out directory of numbers to reach for emergency. She said safety, including those of workplace and houses, was important.

The manufacturers were also aware Kapitan Lau was helping to promote the ‘Open Sibu Sky’ initiative to bring in more direct flights for tourism and investments.
