Syamsudin Noor Airport runway will be repaired
BANJARBARU, South Kalimantan: General Manager of PT Angkasa Pura I Syamsudin Noor Airport Banjarmasin Heryudhitiawan Handy said the runway will be repaired by overall paving, AntaranewsKalsel reported.
“The entire surface of the asphalt will be overlaid or coated again with a thickness according to the standard, so it can support the weight of the aircraft,” he said in Banjarbaru, Sunday.
He said the entire cost for coating the asphalt surface of the runway length of 2.5 kilometers and a width of 40 meters from PT Angkasa Pura.
The financing merged with similar work at other airports, including Juanda in Sidoarjo, East Java, and Bali’s Ngurah Rai Airport.
“We do not know how much the amount of funds, because the work is combined with another airport that the runway surface also to be coated,” he said.
He said the implementation of the work estimated start at mid-year and should be completed before December 2016 so that air traffic will be smooth and better.
According to him, the asphalt surface coating work does not interfere with air traffic at the local airport, due to be implemented after the entire flight ended.
“The work is done at night or after flights no longer exist and must end before the first flight of the morning,” he said.
He said the current runway conditions of Syamsudin Noor Airport is still quite good and can accommodate large aircraft, but it is time the surface of the asphalt to be overlaid.
