Sparks fly at petrol station
KUCHING: A fire that was triggered by a spark at the Shell Gemilang Petrol Station was put out in the nick of time by staff members before the situation could get any worse.
Large plumes of black smoke could be seen emanating from the station during the incident.
According to a preliminary report from the Fire and Rescue Department who rushed to the scene after receiving an alert from station authorities, the fire began when a customer was in the midst of filling up a 20 litre petrol canister when there was a spark.
The quick action by station attendants in extinguishing the flame with fire extinguishers limited the damage to only the canister in question.
