Chaos outside venue of MIC’s EGM
SUBANG JAYA: A group of MIC supporters, believed to be aligned to former President G Palanivel, showed up at the party’s extraordinary general meeting (EGM) here today.
They had attempted to enter the Grand Boulevard at One City here in a bid to stop the meeting which MIC President S Subramaniam was attending.
Some of the supporters took to throwing bottles at riot police, who were present outside the venue.
However, the EGM proceeded inside.
Members of the group outside called for Subramaniam to step down as MIC president.
Palanivel has been staging a long battle, in the courts and against the Registrar of Societies, to regain power of the Indian party, which is part of the Barisan Nasional.
