Supermax denies it is moving to Hong Kong
KUALA LUMPUR: Supermax Corporation Bhd Managing Director Stanley Thai Kim Sim has denied reports that he is moving the company headquarters to Hong Kong.
Instead, he said Supermax would continue to invest (RM100 million in high-end technology manufacturing of contact lenses).
It would also maintain its global manufacturing headquarters for contact lens and glove businesses in Malaysia.
Supermax also outlined its 10-15-year roadmap, including plans to increase glove manufacturing capacity from 24 billion pieces to 45 billion pieces.
Capital expenditure for this would range between RM1 billion and RM1.2 billion.
“Supermax is also looking to increase contact lens capacity from 70 million pieces to two billion pieces,” he told a press conference here.
Rumours were rife recently that Supermax would move its headquaters from Malaysia to Hong Kong.
Thai also noted that the Economic Transformation Programme (ETP) had placed Malaysia on the right track to achieve steady economic growth.
He welcomed government efforts to steadily pursue policies that encouraged local and foreign firms to expand their business, especially with the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPPA).
