Passers-by alarmed by sight of young man sleeping in drain

The young man sleeping soundly in the drain before being sent to the hospital by paramedics.

KUCHING: Members of the public were alarmed to see a young man lying in a drain near a bus stop at Jalan Sekama here that they immediately called for ambulance.

Several individuals, who spotted the man past noon yesterday, said they were unsure whether he was alright.

However the paramedics, who arrived at the scene minutes later, managed to allay their worries by confirming that man was actually sleeping – likely due to intoxication.

The likeliest scenario would be that the man, 25, was walking past the past stop around noon before he lost his footing and fell into the drain.

He was later sent to Sarawak General Hospital for further examination.
