Annuar shoots back, says Umno won't prop up MCA anymore

Ketereh MP Annuar Musa has shot back at MCA deputy president Wee Ka Siong by saying that Umno will never again prop up a "crippled" MCA.

According to Annuar, MCA suffered a "stroke" after the 13th general election, but despite Umno's efforts to restore the health of the party by giving it "cushy" positions in the government, it could not recover.

He pointed out that MCA performed even worse in GE14, and did not just fail to win over the people, but even its own members.

"This statement (from Wee) as though MCA had been propping up Umno should be considered with an honest heart.

“Unless the 'stroke' (suffered by MCA) for the second time since GE13 was so bad that not only was MCA left crippled, but also unable to think!

"If that is the case, then MCA should prepare to buy their own gravestone," he said in a Facebook posting.

In an interview with Sin Chew Daily yesterday, Wee said MCA would no longer bear responsibility for Umno's actions, and that the party is now open to working with anyone.

Annuar stressed that until now, nothing was said about MCA's failures in the polls out of respect.

However, he compared Wee saying that MCA would not take the blame for Umno's faults to kicking a friend while they are down.

He also warned MCA not to take Umno for granted.

As the Alliance coalition, Umno, MCA and MIC formed the first federal government of Malaysia, before becoming the core of the BN coalition in 1973.

However, in the May 9 general election BN suffered its first electoral defeat, with MCA almost wiped out and left with just one parliamentary seat, which is held by Wee. -Mkini
