Activist Haris Ibrahim found guilty of sedition
KUALA LUMPUR: The Sessions Court here has found civil activist Haris Ibrahim guilty of making seditious remarks at a public forum following the 13th general election three years ago.
In handing down the decision, Sessions Court Judge Shamsudin Abdullah said he was satisfied that the words uttered by the accused at the May 13 forum had a tendency to call on Malaysians to topple a democratically-elected government.
He said the prosecution had succeeded in proving its case beyond reasonable doubt.
Haris' counsel, Gobind Singh Deo, asked for a 10-minute stand down to speak to his client.
