PETALING JAYA: Sarawak Immigration is firm that anyone classified “undesirable” will be promptly deported once they arrive in the state.

Its director Ken Leben, was reported by The Star Online as saying the entry ban to the state applied across the board to all travellers, Malaysians and foreigners alike, as there was no double standards practiced.

He also stressed the ban was not exclusively against Opposition lawmakers although a number of them including Tony Pua, Teresa Kok and Teo Nie Ching were all lawmakers from Opposition party, the DAP. Today, PKR Youth chief Dr Afif Bahardin was also banned from entering Sarawak.

“Those who are blacklisted will find out their status upon arriving at our counter,” he said in Kuching today.

He said the list of “undesirable” people was confidential and would not be made public under any circumstances.

He was however unable to say for how long the ban would be imposed but added, “They can appeal against the ban, but it ultimately depends on the state authorities.”
