PRS launches manifesto ahead of other parties
KUCHING: Parti Rakyat Sarawak (PRS) became the first Sarawak Barisan Nasional (BN) component to launch its manifesto for the coming state election.
The launching took place today (Apr 14) at the party headquarters and was attended by all the party’s 11 candidates and its six members of parliament.
PRS president and BN candidate for Baleh, Tan Sri Datuk Amar Dr James Masing said the manifesto features the photographs of the candidates, the track record and pledge of the candidates.
He also mentioned that the manifesto’s design also highlighted the party’s aim to bring in more connectivity be it physical or cyber, more employment and more amenities to the rural areas which the party mainly represents.
“Today we are launching our manifesto, slightly earlier than the rest of the BN component parties in Sarawak. We have done ours ‘lama sudah’ (for quite some time), we know where we want to go, and we’re very focused on what we want to do.
“Each candidate has a page of his own in the manifesto,” he told a press conference here.
He said the objectives in the manifesto is similar to those of BN at both state and federal levels.
Prior to the launching of the manifesto, PRS also became the first BN component to have all its candidates confirmed and announced by Chief Minister and State BN chairman Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Adenan Satem on March 29.
PRS will contest in 11 seats – namely its nine traditional seats Balai Ringin, Bukit Begunan, Batang Ai, Ngemah, Tamin, Kakus, Pelagus, Baleh and Belaga, and two newly created seats Murum and Samalaju.
