KAPIT: Voters here have been reminded to support Barisan Nasional (BN) candidates for Baleh, Katibas, Bukit Goram and Pelagus in the coming state election as these rural constituencies need more development.

The candidates are Tan Sri Datuk Amar Dr James Masing (Baleh), Datuk Ambrose Blikau (Katibas), Jefferson Jamit Unyat (Bukit Goram) and Wilson Nyabong Ijang (Pelagus).

In making the call, Deputy Minister of Rural and Regional Development and Kapit MP Datuk Alexander Nanta Linggi said only the BN could bring development, not the opposition.

“My appeal to all is for us to be sincere, to come together, and to assess for ourselves who can actually help us develop. Is it BN or opposition elected representatives?” he said when declaring open Tun Jugah Multipurpose Hall of SMK Selirik in Sungai Amang on Saturday.

He told the 700 guests present that because of limited resources, there was a need to ensure that Masing, Ambrose, Jamit and Nyabong would win so that they could sit down together to plan for more development for Kapit.

“Together, they would be able to lobby for more development allocations for the good of Kapit.”

Meanwhile, SMK Selirik principal Jarit Jermit said the multipurpose hall was built using the RM300,000 grant received from Nanta last year. Works on the hall was completed last December.

SMK Selirik has 110 teachers, 23 supporting staff members and 1,189 students.
