KUCHING: The Sarawak Timber Industry Development Corporation (STIDC) team dominated the Women Section of the Maksak (Sarawak Government Services Welfare and Recreational Council) event when it won the ‘ Amazing Race’ in a treasure hunt yesterday.

The team named ‘Kelulut’ won RM1,000 in cash prize.

Second to 10th team placing went to ‘Running Ladies’ from Politeknik, ‘Dewon Sawit’ (Salcra), ‘Wander Gal’ (STIDC), ‘Foressa’ (Forest Dept), ‘Tok Boknya’ (Social Welfare Dept – JKM) ), ‘Pink Cyclone (Commission of City of Kuching North – DBKU) ), ‘KWB’ (Kuching Water Board), ‘Baksri’ (Politeknik), and ‘Go Gojes (MRSM Mukah).

The teams won RM900, RM800, RM700, RM600, RM500, RM400, RM300, RM200 and RM100 respectively.

The chief minister’s wife Datin Patinggi Datuk Jamilah Anu presented the prizes when closing the ‘Amazing Race’ at the Maksak Women Section site at the ‘Sejiwa Senada’ programme site in Metro City Matang yesterday.

Maksak Women chairperson Puan Sri Datin Amar Saptuyah Suib, who is the wife of State Secretary Tan Sri Datuk Amar Mohamad Morshidi Abdul Ghani, was also present.

A total of 33 teams comprising five members each participated in the treasure hunt.

Jamilah congratulated Maksak Women Section for staging a successful event to promote healthy, recreational activities for members.

She said recreation reduces stress and benefits women in physical, mental and spiritual aspects.

“Women by nature shoulder a lot of burden due to broad responsibilities to their husbands, families and workplace as well as society. Recreational activities can bring relief with fun and relaxation to ‘recharge’ their energy,” she said.

Jamilah also suggested that such activities could be held in other districts and divisions especially in rural areas, for cultural and knowledge exchange.

“It will be a good opportunity to experience life in the rural and to build networking,” she added.
