Idris: Govt to ensure M’sians enjoy ‘best education’

KUANTAN: The government is committed to continue to ensure that the people received the best education in the country, said Higher Education Minister Datuk Idris Jusoh.

For this purpose, he said, the ministry had introduced several initiatives in efforts to churn out holistic graduates who possessed entrepreneurship and balanced traits.

“I promise to the people of Malaysia that they will receive the best education that they could get in the country.

“All these efforts include those from the educators at our institutions of higher learning,” he said at the ‘Anugerah Tokoh Siswa’ (ATS) 2015 at Universiti Malaysia Pahang (UMP), here Saturday night.

Also present were his deputy Datuk Mary Yap Kain Ching and UMP Vice-Chancellor UMP Prof Datuk Dr Daing Nasir Ibrahim.

Commenting further, Idris said among these initiatives were the iCGPA (integrated Cumulative Grade Point Average) which was an evaluation that was not based on academic achievement alone but also participation in cocurriculum, social and voluntary activities.

In addition, the 2u2i Program which was a work-based learning programme had been implemented where the students would learn for two years at the university and two years to gain experience in the industry. — Bernama
