RTS: Spad presents three proposals to Johor ruler
The Land Transport Commission (Spad) has presented three proposals for the Rapid Transit System rail project to Johor ruler Sultan Ibrahim Sultan Iskandar today.
According to the ruler's Facebook page, Spad officials said the project would benefit some 80,000 to 100,000 people daily.
The RTS is a two-station rail project that will link JB Sentral at Bukit Chagar to Woodlands MRT station in Singapore. The system is expected to be operational by 2024.
Previously, Sultan Ibrahim had objected to the "curved" and elevated alignment that had been proposed. Instead, the ruler proposed that the alignment be straight.
Following this, Putrajaya pledged to study suggestions by the Johor ruler.
However, Economic Planning Unit Minister Abdul Rahman Dahlan said whatever decision required the consent of Singapore government who are joint-venture partners in the project.
