Dig up our dirt, we're not scared, Nazri tells Dr M

Umno supreme council member Nazri Abdul Aziz says his party is not afraid of former premier Dr Mahathir Mohamad's threat to expose dirt on the ruling party.

“Go ahead and dig (out the dirt), we are all open. Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak's wealth is also out in the open.

“Please dig, we want to know what turns up.

The tourism minister said he himself had declared his wealth to Mahathir when the latter was heading the Cabinet.

“We have always declared our wealth, what's there to fear?” said Nazri at an event at the Mines Convention Centre (MIECC) in Seri Kembangan, Selangor today.

He was responding to the warning from Mahathir (photo), that the latter could also dig up dirt on his rivals, after two Umno-linked newspapers on Sunday zoomed in on his granddaughter Meera Alyanna Mukhriz's purportedly lavish lifestyle.

Nazri added that everyone was interested not just in the source of Mahathir's supposed wealth, but that of the former premier's children as well.

“Tell us what is the source of that wealth.

“Suddenly Mahathir gets his pension, and his children are rich,” he said, claiming the latter possess at least RM100 million each.

“That's what I have heard. His children need to answer,” said Nazri.

When asked about Mahathir's statement that he is unsure if he will contest in the next general election, Nazri said, “No need to contest in the election. Just declare (his wealth).”
