PETALING JAYA: The police cybercrimes unit has reportedly been ordered to find and arrest a Twitter user who said the Inspector-General, Khalid Abu Bakar, is “a corrupt not good police”.

Action was also ordered against Shazni Munir Mohd Ithnin, deputy head of Amanah Youth, who reportedly said that the Barisan Nasional could only be toppled from power through large-scale street action.

Khalid, who is fond of issuing commands to his units via Twitter, described both remarks as seditious, according to a Malaysiakini report.

khalid_twitterTwitter user @drcolinfu was reported to have sent a tweet, tagged to the US Justice Department, the IGP and the prime minister, Najib Razak, warning the Justice Department to beware of Khalid. ““He (is) a corrupt-not good police (officer). He protects Najib and 1MDB,” he was reported to have said.

Khalid responded by tweeting: “Detect and catch this person for goading the rakyat, by making outrageous claims through this seditious post”.

The tweet by Dr Colin Fu is not shown on his Twitter account today; however, there were two others yesterday about 1MDB: one was to Khalid and others, saying “Please work with the Justice Dept” and another to US President Barack Obama asking “what happens to 1MDB?”

The US Justice Department is investigating matters related to 1MDB and a team of officials are reported to be in Malaysia. Yesterday, Khalid said the officials had no right to question anyone on Malaysian soil without local authorisation.

khalid-twitter2The other person who will face police action is Amanah Youth deputy chief Shazni Munir Mohd Ithnin for reportedly saying BN can only be toppled through large-scale riots.
Khalid ordered action “against this seditious person” Shazni Munir, who was quoted by the Bicara website as saying that it was “almost impossible” for the Barisan Nasional to lose at elections.

“So what then? Surely not take to the streets again? The answer is yes and no. Yes, if people are willing to remain on the streets for days and not return to eat ‘kuaci’ after just half a day of demonstrating. Cab drivers started demonstrating yesterday – this is the start of a bigger wave which must continue,” Malaysiakini quoted him as telling Bicara.

The Bicara report was republished by Malaysia Today, which led to Khalid’s order.

Earlier this week an engineer was arrested for a Facebook comment against Najib.
