Body of toddler in crocodile attack found
SAMARAHAN: The body of a toddler, aged two years and six months, who was attacked by a crocodile in Kampung Sungai Mata here yesterday, was recovered by a search and rescue team at 8.55 am today.
A Fire and Rescue Department spokesman said Crlieyseha Abdul Rahim’s body was found about 10 metres from where the incident happened.
He said there were bite marks on the child’s back and shoulder.
In the incident around 6 pm yesterday, the victim was having a bath with her father Abdul Rahim Maarof, 26, in the river at an oil palm plantation near their home.
Abdul Rahim broke his hand while trying to rescue his daughter and was pulled to safety by villagers who later sent him to a nearby hospital.
The spokesman said a search and rescue operation was launched immediately after the department received the report. The operation ceased after nightfall and resumed early this morning with the cooperation of Civil Defence Department personnel and villagers.
