Here’s How Penang Flood Victims Can Replace Damaged Passports For Free
If you are one of the affected flood victims in Penang, you can now heave a sigh of relief if important personal documents such as your passport is damaged. The Malaysian Immigration Department has agreed to replace any passports damaged or destroyed due to the flood for free.

Immigration director-general Datuk Seri Mustafar Ali told The Star that the replacements could only be done at Immigration Department offices in Penang.

"Applicants who lost their passports need to lodge a police report before they make applications at the Immigration offices,” he said.

So, how can you apply for your replacement passport?

  1. Lodge a report at the nearest police station only if you lost your passport during the flood. Those with damaged passports do not need to do so.
  2. Bring a copy of your report or the damaged passport as proof to the immigration department.
  3. Apply for the replacement passport and you will be notified once it’s ready.

Just a head’s up though, this offer is limited and is valid until 31 December 2017 only. So, make sure you get it replaced as soon as possible to avoid long waiting time or crowds before the deadline.
