Melaka United goalkeeper dies after struck by lightning

MELAKA: Melaka United reserve goalkeeper Marco Stefan Petrovski, who was in a coma after being struck by lightning, died at Putra Specialist Hospital here, yesterday.

Chief Executive Officer of Putra Specialist Hospital, Radhuana Salleh said Petrovski died at about 4 pm, after 21 days of treatment at the hospital.

The remains of the 18 year-old naturalised player was taken to Melaka Hospital for a post-mortem.

“Petrovski was dependent on a respirator since he was admitted to Putra Specialist Hospital on April 11,” he told reporters here.

The remains of Petrovski arrived at Melaka Hospital at about 6.50pm.

Petrovski was struck by lightning after a team training session in Krubong, near Hang Jebat Stadium at about 5 pm on April 5.
