29 computers, WiFi devices seized in anti-cyber gambling raid
KUCHING: A total of 29 computer units and WiFi devices were seized from a shoplot near Jalan Lapangan Terbang Baru here during an operation yesterday.
The raid, led by Kuching District CID head DSP Lim Bak Phai, was conducted on the premises, located on first floor of a building there.
Police also seized cash amounting to RM260 from the counter, believed to be the proceeds from the illegal cyber gambling activities said to be run there.
Eighteen men, aged between 18 and 50, were arrested – one of them is said to be the caretaker of the outlet while the rest were customers.
“The caretaker will be investigated for offences under section 4B (A) Common Gaming House Act 1953 and Section 5 (2) Entertainment Ordinance, while the rest will undergo probe under Section 6 (1) of Common Gaming House Act 1953,” a police spokesperson said.
