Manyin launches PBB Tebedu ops room
SERIAN: Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) Tebedu branch’s election machinery is now in top gear for the Tebedu incumbent Dato Sri Michael Manyin following the launch of its operation room yesterday.
The launch was officiated by Manyin himself who will also act as the ops room operations director.
In his speech to party members present, Manyin told them to work towards achieving a higher majority win for Barisan Nasional in Tebedu.
He said they must not be complacent and carried away with reports saying BN will win the state election, but they must continue to stay focused to ensure BN wins handsomely against the opponent.
“Just like in a football game, the team members must maintain their high spirits if we want to defeat the opposing team,” he said in his speech.
Manyin, who is also PBB vice president, took the opportunity to brief them on the current political happenings as well as sharing the latest infrastructure development taking place in Tebedu.
He informed them that the electorate in Tebedu now comprises about 11,500 voters, compared to 13,000 voters in 2011 due to the creation of new seat Bukit Semuja which took in one polling district from Tebedu.
On his bid to get re-elected for another term, he said this was because he still has work that needs to be done for the people of Tebedu.
Although Tebedu folks now enjoy tar-sealed roads and 24-hour electricity, he said the next stage of his work will be human capital development to ensure such amenities are fully utilised.
He also admitted that contractors are to be blamed for the delay in pipe connection works for the supply of treated water to some villages there.
“My wish is to see Tebedu and its people becoming more progressive and advanced,” he said.
Manyin has represented Tebedu for four terms (or 20 years) since 1996. In the 2001 state election, he won by a 4,066 vote majority against his closest challenger Dr Christopher Kiyui from PKR in a three-cornered fight.
