Road project a gift from BN – Entri
MIRI: The RM5.85-million road linking Rumah Muna Entemang, Kejaman to Miri is the BN government’s biggest gift to the 76-door longhouse, said Assistant Minister of Public Utilities (Water Supply) Datuk Sylvester Entri Muran.
When officially opening the road yesterday, the Marudi assemblyman also said the road provides the residents with easier access to major towns and other places in the state besides opening up land for commercial farming.
“Today is symbolic for Rumah Muna as the road is a vital link to other areas and urban centres in the state besides opening up opportunities for economic development,” he told a crowd of about 800 supporters attending the event.
Present were assistant district officer Norlila Ulis, Beluru administrative officer Albania Linus Lukong, Pemanca Enggah Muga, Penghulu Kalang Ami, Penghulu Randi Bundan and Penghulu Sedu Gerang.
Also present were councillors and Tuai Rumah from longhouses in Ulu Teru, Sungai Peking, Marudi, Jegan, Nabor, Tinjar, Lapok and Beluru.
Entri said as the people’s representative he took the initiative to plan the road which had now become a reality.
With the completion of the road, he said the residents could now reach Miri within an hour, a journey that previously took three to four hours by boat.
“Some quarters are complaining there is no development in Marudi but the people themselves know the changes and progress they enjoy now,” he pointed out.
As a local, he said he always gave priority to building roads and connecting the longhouses with electricity and water supply.
He stressed that Marudi would continue to progress rapidly provided the constituents continue to give him the mandate to represent them.
At the same time, he urged the people not to be easily influenced by certain quarters trying to smear his name.
“I am serious in helping the people here. So don’t listen to allegations and the smear campaign by certain quarters merely wanting to get support,” he asserted.
On the other hand, he urged those working in Miri to go back to the longhouse often, saying they now had no more excuse not to make a home-coming trip.
Meanwhile, TR Muna thanked Entri and the BN government for their commitment in building the road.
“We thank the BN government and Entri for the road. I call on the people of Marudi to continue supporting the present government,” he said.
He urged the people not to support the opposition but give their support to Entri in the coming polls.
