Alice in ‘wonderland’ with bubbly first-born baby boy

SIBU: Lanang MP Alice Lau gave birth to her first-born on Saturday morning at Sibu Medical Specialist Clinic.
Her bundle of joy weighed 3.085kg, but he had not been given a name yet.
Alice gave birth by caesarean operation at 10am, a week earlier than the due date.
“The decision to give caesarean birth was made shortly before the operation. After confinement, I will have time to attend the parliamentary session. That is my duty as Lanang MP.”
She said she would not be able to assist her party, the DAP, in the coming state election.
Lau married businessman Loo Chee Wee from Melaka last year.
She is the daughter of local businessman Dato Lau Cheng Kiong and Datin Ha Fong Yieng.
She first contested in Bawang Assan in the Sarawak State Assembly in the 2011 state election but was defeated by incumbent Dato Sri Wong Soon Koh.
In the 2013 general election, she was nominated by the DAP for Lanang.
She defeated five-term incumbent Datuk Tiong Thai King with a majority of 8,630 votes, or 19.2% of the votes, to become the first opposition woman MP from Sarawak.
A pharmacist by profession, she received her MPharm from University of Strathclyde.
