Longhouse folk told to support BN
KAPIT: Residents of longhouses along Sungai Kapit are urged to give their fullest support to Barisan Nasional (BN) in the coming state election.
Directing this call to folks living along Sungai Sesibau, Sungai Belawai, Sungai Ibau, Sungai Menuan, Sungai Melipis, Sungai Ulu Yong, Nanga Sebatu and Bukit Goram, political secretary to the chief minister Jefferson Jamit said they had been deprived of development the past five years because they voted for the opposition during the previous state election.
As such, he told them to learn from their mistake and vote the BN candidates for Pelagus and Bukit Goram this election.
Jamit was speaking to the crowd at Rumah Agan Ninggat along Jalan Bukit Goram by the side of Sungai Kapit.
“BN practises politics of unity and harmony, and politics of development. To ensure uninterrupted development, it’s vital for you to vote BN in the upcoming state election. The BN candidates in Pelagus and Bukit Goram must win with a big majority,” he told them at the recent gathering.
He reminded them that they had suffered the past years because they voted an independent candidate who did not have the resources to help them.
At the function, Jamit handed out government grants to Rumah Agan Mingget (RM12,500), Rumah Ilie (RM16,000) and Rumah Changgat (RM4,500), all situated along Sungai Kapit.
Earlier, the host, Tuai Rumah Agan, on behalf of the constituents along Sungai Kapit and Jalan Bukit Goram pledged their undivided support to BN.
