Robbery suspect surrenders to police
KOTA KINABALU: The suspect of the recent robbery case at KFC Jalan Sulaman turned himself in after learning that he is wanted by the police.
The 19-year-old foreigner surrendered himself at the police headquarters in Karamunsing here about 4pm on Saturday.
Urine test conducted on him came out negative and it was also learned that the suspect had no previous criminal record.
Muhammad Faizal Mursidi was earlier identified as one of the gang members involved in the robbery at the KFC outlet last month.
City police chief ACP M. Chandra said the gang had approached their victim, who is a 32-year-old civil servant, pretending to borrow a lighter before robbing the victim of his belongings.
“Following the incident and continuous investigation, police managed to detain one of the suspects at a sundry shop at Kampung Delima, Manggatal, a day after the robbery,” he said.
