KAPIT: Kapit now has 10 1Malaysia Communities in both the town and rural areas.

Minister of Land Development Tan Sri Datuk Amar Dr James Jemut Masing said the 1Malaysia Communities here are at Kampung Sawang, Pekan Kapit, Kampung Muhibah, Bukit Goram, Genturong Sekaban, Sungai Bena, Sungai Yong, Taman Indah, Nanga Melekon and Nanga Antaroh.

“It is inclusive – not just in town but also in the rural longhouses,” he said when launching the 1Malaysia Community Programme for Kapit District and 1Malaysia School Adoption programme recently.

He praised the 1Malaysia Community and Information Department for jointly organising the meaningful programme.

According to Masing, Sarawak was the inspiration behind the 1Malaysia concept.

“It’s our practices, how we act, we behave, we think as one nation, one group and one community regardless of Dayak, Malay or Chinese, we’re together. It starts in Sarawak, here we don’t think of race, we act as Sarawakians then race.

“Prime Minister (Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak) when he visited Sarawak, he must have seen how we act as one and he follows us to implement this 1Malaysia concept in the best possible way to unite the whole nation,” he said.
