Govt retirees declare support for Penguang
BAKONG: A group of 20 government retirees have pledged their full support for Datu Dr Penguang Manggil to be nominated as the BN candidate for Marudi constituency in the coming state election.
Assuring that they were not biased, the retirees were from different longhouses in Bakong who came meet Penguang at Anggas Lidam longhouse in Sungai Biar, Bakong on Saturday.
“We do not doubt Datu Dr Penguang Manggil’s capability to defend Marudi and bring a new breath of life to the town which had been under the incumbent for 20 years without any significant progress. In fact, Penguang is just the right choice and we are confident he can win based on his vast experience in government service,” Boniface Tadong of Sungai Bain in Bakong said.
Tadong, who retired from the Agriculture Department in Miri, hoped the people and voters in Marudi would support Penguang and give him the mandate to be their representative.
Hillary Tawan, a longhouse chief from Poyut B, said it was high time for the people in Marudi to wake up and realise that they should reject the incumbent to give way to a new person to be the next wakil rakyat.
“Twenty years is enough for the current wakil rakyat, now is the time to choose a new one and Datu Dr Penguang Manggil is the person,” he added.
Meanwhile, Sungai Biar longhouse chief Anggas Lidam declared their 100 per cent support for Penguang and said they would vote him if he is nominated as the BN candidate.
“Penguang is a not a stranger in Marudi as he is well known and popular,” he said.
Lidam thanked all the people who came to his longhouse to meet Penguang.
